Dance

Nivedha is a senior in high school and has been learning Bharatanatyam at Nrithyanjali since she was six years old. Her mother enrolled her in Bharatanatyam classes to help her learn more about her culture and because of her love for dancing. Nivedha is a disciple of Guru Smt. Suma Vitta, director of Nrithyanjali.

Guru Smt. Suma Vitta, trained by Natyacharya V.K. Haridas, has been teaching Bharatanatyam in Birmingham, AL, USA since 1995. She incorporates spiritual values and traditions into her lessons and is also a certified yoga practitioner.

In August 2023, Nivedha performed her Bharatanatyam Rangapravesham, a solo dance debut marking the beginning of her formal dance career. She trained for a year, learning nine pieces and enhancing both her physical and mental abilities. The process reignited her love for Bharatanatyam and brought pride to her family and herself.

Throughout her training, Nivedha was guided by several teachers, including recent graduates of Nrithyanjali and Vidushi Smt. Varsha Krupananda, a disciple of Natyacharya Guru V.S. Kaushik. These mentors helped her advance her storytelling abilities, allowing her to embrace the full spectrum of emotions in her performances.
